About Elliott Bay Landscape Design

Our Story
For over 25 years, Elliott Bay Landscape Design has been helping homeowners find beauty, solace, and function in their outdoor spaces. From our involvement in multiple Flower and Garden shows in our early years, scores of collaborations with other APLD designers and landscape architects, to 20 year collaboration with the esteemed Designer Octavia Chambliss until her retirement, the common denominator is our passion for helping people rediscover and incorporate the gorgeous Northwest environment into their daily lives.
Todd Benevedes, Owner / Operations
After spending several years in the outdoor recreation industry, I turned to business ownership, and created Elliott Bay Landscape Design in 2002.
I came to this work through a passion for the wilderness. As a college student, I had the opportunity to travel to Europe and see the Matterhorn, where I became inspired to learn to climb and mountaineer. In the years that followed, I lived and climbed extensively in Yosemite, had an excellent adventure in the Himalaya, and have taken countless trips in the Cascades and Olympics here in Washington.
Although there is nothing to replace the experience of being in the wilderness, I still derive great joy from spending time in the garden right outside my doorstep. By creating enjoyable outdoor environments at our homes, we can reconnect with nature every day, and share that love with our families, friends, and neighbors. As a business owner, I truly love working together with clients and our crew to create fabulous outdoor spaces.

Emily Benevedes, Owner / Design
I have always loved spending time outdoors, exploring Washington trails and waterways, going on fantastic road trips around the Pacific Northwest. When Todd and I became homeowners, we relished the chance to transform our property, expanding our living space into the yard creating play spaces for the kids, garden zones for growing food, and outdoor rooms for relaxing and socializing. We also needed to create privacy from our busy street!
In 2001, I began working with the business as the bookkeeper, but was eager to grow my career and expand my role into something heartier. In 2008, I went back to school studying Landscape Horticulture at South Seattle College and found that landscape design was a great fit for me! I love the convergence of creativity, science and geometry that landscape design is all about. Every project and client is different, and I find great joy helping homeowners envision what their landscapes can become.
